With UPU right around the corner, and questions flooding in regards to that very subject, many students have been blissfully unaware that UPU released a circular, or 'pekeliling' fairly recently. In fact, they released four, one for every category available in UPU. The categories are hugely important, and students are still asking if they can apply with previous year's STPM and Matrikulasi results. There's still confusion for students who apply from private institutions. In line with this, we have labelled each pekeliling with the group of students they apply to, so scroll down, and check which one applies to you. Everything You Need to Know About UPU for Lepasan SPM, Lepasan STPM/Setaraf, Lepasan Matrikulasi/Asasi, Lepasan Diploma/Setaraf

Do you think you have done everything correctly, but still did not get any offers from UPU? Find out the 6 reasons why your UPU application was not a success.
1. Did not click "Confirm & Submit" button in the online form
After you have filled in all the required information, not clicking the "Confirm & Submit" button will cause your UPU application to be invalid, even though you have excellent results.
2. Did not fulfill the minimum requirements
Your academic and co-curriculum achievements do not meet the minimum entry requirement for the courses that you chose. Therefore, make sure that you are eligible to apply for those courses to enhance your chance to be selected for the programme.
3. Applying for programmes outside of your field/stream
Choosing a course that is not in line with your stream will affect your UPU application. For example, an accounting student who applies for medicine programme certainly will not be selected, as he/she does not have prior knowledge on Physics, Chemistry and Biology.Likewise, this applies to science students. It is true that if you are a science stream student, your options are wider. However, this may not be the case when you are applying to enter public university through UPU for art courses. The UPU art courses are mostly offered to art stream students given that they meet the eligibility requirements set. If you are a science stream student looking to pursue a degree in the arts field, then private university is the best option for you. Did not pass the interview
Certain courses require an interview, and if you do not pass the interview, you will not be offered to pursue the programme.Click here to discover the frequently asked questions related to interviews.
5. Have low merit marks
UPU offers are given based on merit marks which consist of 90% academic achievement and 10% co-curriculum achievement. Having low merit marks will result in not getting any UPU offers, as this reflects that you were not an active student in school. The competition for UPU offers are also extremely intense. Nonetheless, if you think you are qualified and your results are good enough to pursue a degree in the field of your interest, UPU may not be a smart choice. Of course, you can give it a try but chances of getting an offer is low unless your results are excellent. To stand a chance at pursuing a degree in the field of your choice, the smarter option is to apply for private universities. You are guaranteed to secure a seat unless you don't fulfill the requirements set. Not chosen by the university due to limited placement available
The competition to enter public universities is very high every year. UPU dates for lepasan SPM and lepasan STPM/setaraf 2021/2022 academic session

Important UPU Dates for 2021/2022 Academic Session

While some are well-versed with the UPU application system, a lot of students are still unsure how it works. Don’t be ashamed if you’re still the ones that are unsure. After all, it’s always better to ask so that you won’t screw up your application process halfway. Here are the most popular questions about UPU 2021/2022.
1. I studied in a Private University/College during my Diploma/ Matriculation/ Foundation/etc. Can I apply for Degree studies with UPU?

Even though you’ve studied in a private institution for your Pre-U, there still is no harm applying for a UPU but bear in mind that they priorities IPTA applicants first
Technically, you can. However, it is up to the university to decide whether to accept you or not, and your chances would be quite low as they would prioritise those who meet their requirements.
2. I didn’t take any science subjects during my SPM. Can I now do my Foundation in Science/Biology/Physics?

To be on the safe side, make sure you have more than five subjects, with a pass in English and Mathematics
Yes, you can. While it would be better if you already took the subject during your SPM, the general requirements for most universities are FIVE credits in relevant subjects. So you could still apply and get in, so long as you have FIVE credits.
3. The Second UPU Appeal Results for STPM/Setaraf to Be Released on 19 Oct

Since you’re reading this article right now, you’re probably wondering “How did I fail my UPU Rayuan application?”You’re not the only one. UPU is notoriously difficult and failing the application process is a huge bummer. So why did you fail your UPU Rayuan?
Reasons why you failed UPU Rayuan

Limited space/place

Lack of vacancies in selected program

Great competition between fellow applications

The selection for diploma / equivalent is entirely subject to public university

For your information, UPU only handles student application matters but what determines a student’s successful application is completely depending on the particular university, especially for STPM / equivalent graduates. There is a quota of total places placed by the university for all courses of study according to graduates - STPM, Matriculation, Diploma, Foundation and other graduates. If you fail in the first application, the opportunity is still open to apply for the PHASE 1 APPEAL. Only 4 courses can be selected based on qualifications and vacancies. For example, if you still fail in the PHASE 1 appeal application, you still have the opportunity to submit the appeal application in PHASE 2.For PHASE 2, applications will be done automatically. That means you don’t need to apply again. PHASE 2 is ideal for those who still have not receive any offer from UPU and is expected to be released on 19th October. UPU will identify which courses are still taking in enrolment after new students have registered at their respective public universities. Which means, the results for PHASE 2 depends on whether the courses and universities will have vacancies for more students.Failed in your UPU Application, what must you do? Among Courses & Universities, Which One Is More Important?Important Tips That You Must Know Before Choosing IPTSDiscover 10 IPTS Offering Opportunities to Study Abroad at the Low Fee Rate as in MalaysiaWhy Public University Graduates Find it Difficult to Get Jobs Compared to IPTS?7 Signs You Will Fail in University Studies!Public vs Private Universities6 reasons why your UPU application failedList of Universities You Can Apply to Without UPUThe Most Common Questions about UPU AnsweredIf You’re an STPM/Setaraf Leaver, You Can Apply to These ScholarshipsAfterschool.my is Malaysia’s no 1 higher education website that provides helpful information on courses, institutions and scholarships for students transitioning from secondary school to university level.
